Important Update Regarding the Bristol Board of Education

Posted Date: 06/11/26 (08:00 AM)

Dear Bristol Public Schools Community,
I would like to share an important update regarding the Bristol Board of Education.
Last week, Maria Simmons resigned from her position on the Board of Education. On behalf of Bristol Public Schools, I extend my sincere gratitude to Maria for her dedicated service, thoughtful leadership, and commitment to the students, families, and staff of our district. Throughout her tenure, Maria consistently centered discussions and decisions on students, advocating for what she believed would best serve their needs and future success.

I am also pleased to share that former Board of Education Chair Jennifer Tagariello has been appointed to fill the vacancy. Jennifer brings a wealth of experience, institutional knowledge, and a deep commitment to Bristol Public Schools. Her previous service on the Board, including her leadership as Chair, demonstrated her dedication to supporting student success and strengthening our schools.

We are grateful that Jennifer has agreed to return to public service and look forward to working with her once again as we continue advancing the important work of our district.

Please join me in thanking Maria Simmons for her years of service and welcoming Jennifer Tagariello back to the Bristol Board of Education.

In partnership,

Iris White
