Dear BPS Community,

I am pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Joseph Grabowski to the role of Chief of Talent Management for Bristol Public Schools. Mr. Grabowski has been serving as Interim Chief of Talent Management since last month, and we are pleased to now confirm his permanent appointment to the role. With a strong foundation in labor relations, building sustainable systems, supporting staff development, and driving school improvement initiatives, Mr. Grabowski’s skills will be beneficial for advancing the district’s vision for talent management.

Mr. Grabowski has deep roots in our community, having been a Bristol resident, former student, past elected board commissioner, and current educator at Chippens Hill Middle School. At Chippens Hill, Mr. Grabowski has served in multiple leadership roles beyond the classroom, including Team Leader, Climate Coordinator, School Instructional Leadership Team member, Gifted Coach, and Student Council Advisor. As Climate Coordinator, Mr. Grabowski focused on designing and refining systems to improve and sustain a positive school climate. He has supported teacher growth by mentoring new educators through Connecticut’s TEAM program. As a member of the School Instructional Leadership Team, he regularly reviews student achievement data and guides schoolwide improvement efforts. Mr. Grabowski has also led AVID implementation to promote college and career readiness. Most recently, he led a team of teachers in conjunction with Columbia Law School’s Center for Public Research and Leadership to pilot enhanced student interventions.

Mr. Grabowski’s influence also extends beyond the building level. Over the past two years, he has chaired the district’s Artificial Intelligence Working Group, guiding policy development and professional learning on emerging technologies. He also serves on the Professional Learning Planning Council and has engaged in work focused on curriculum development, Middle Level Reforms, District Climate initiatives, and Strategic Planning. These collaborative roles have shaped district-wide efforts aimed at instructional improvement, talent development, and organizational coherence.

As a Bristol Board of Education Commissioner from 2015 to 2019, Mr. Grabowski served as a liaison to Northeast Middle School and Ivy Drive Elementary School. Through his committee work, he contributed to programming and curriculum decisions, finance discussions, labor relations, and district communication efforts.

Mr. Grabowski holds a Sixth-Year (092) in Educational Leadership with a concentration in Special Education. He also obtained his Master’s Degree in Teacher Leadership and Bachelor's of Science in History/Social Sciences for Secondary Education, all from Central Connecticut State University.

His broad leadership experience, dedication to student and staff success, and understanding of district operations make him a well-suited leader in the Office of Talent Management. Mr. Grabowski will continue to assist in the Office of Talent Management during his transition, assuming full responsibilities on June 20th. Please join me in welcoming Mr. Grabowski to his new role.

In partnership,

Iris White
